Job description
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional practitioner as Art & Design Technician/Demonstrator, to model use of practical equipment, conduct experiments, exercises, workshops and/or processes and to answer questions related to those demonstrations within the Art and Design department.
Working alongside teachers of 3D Design Technology, the successful applicant will have:
- experience of managing and using resistant materials,
- deploying and using workshop resources, machinery and tools,
- excellent communication skills to effectively demonstrate to students ranging from Key Stage 3 to A-Level.
An understanding of emerging digital technologies is desirable, as is the ability to plan and implement demonstrations that fit within the context of department-set schemes of work that include the operation of the Laser Cutter and 3D-Printer.
Responsible to the Head of Art and Design, the optimal candidate will be:
- able to integrate into a successful, busy and dynamic teaching team,
- liaise with teachers as well as working closely with the other department technicians to order and maintain materials and machinery,
- independently determine the material needs of the department and manage the safe use and storage of equipment.
