Job description

Welcome to The Cornerstone Academy, a small, friendly secondary school that believes that high quality education lies at the heart of its community.

Students at the academy enjoy coming to school and want to do well. This ethos has been accomplished through a shared belief, by both staff and students, in high expectations, positive relationships, and enthusiasm in teaching and learning. Here at The Cornerstone Academy, we believe that all students deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. Through constant support and challenge, we achieve this aim.

People often say, after their first visit, how distinctive the academy is, how pioneering we are and yet also how our care and compassion clearly permeates through everything we do. Imagine then, how transformative that environment is for the children who study and grow into adults here.

This is an exciting time to join The Cornerstone Academy. You will have the opportunity to work with a staff team that is supportive, professional and dedicated to providing the best for our students. The academy is expanding in student numbers, and this has led to increased opportunities for staff and students. If you share our ambition of providing the very best teaching and learning and you are seeking an exciting, challenging and rewarding career, we encourage you to apply for this role.

The role:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed person to support our Art and Design Technology department. This varied and creative role is a key aspect of our technician team.

Previous experience of working with a range of workshop machinery would be an advantage and experience of working within a school environment is desirable but not essential.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have 5 GCSE’s with a minimum grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience
  • Be proactive and able to work to deadlines
  • Be flexible and a team player
  • Be organised with excellent IT skills

Key information:

  • Start date: June 2023
  • 35 hours a week Monday to Friday
  • 41 weeks per year (38 school weeks, plus training days and 2 additional flexible weeks over the academic year)
  • Closing date: Monday 15th May 2022 - noon.
  • Interviews will be held on Thursday 18th May.

Please be available for interview on the date detailed above; you will be advised by close of play on Monday 15th May 2023 if you have been successfully shortlisted
