Life Cafés & Resorts is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial company on a mission to deliver bespoke and sustainable Food & Beverage and unique Leisure experiences across our UK operations. With Café and Leisure operations in truly special venues across the country.

We are seeking an experienced, energetic, driven and hands on Area Operations Manager to embark on this exciting journey with us, deliver the Life Café’s vision and lead the operation to the highest standards.

The area that will be covered (not exclusive) includes our units based within in our London cluster. Each wonderfully unique location requires thoughtful and careful management in order to honour their individuality and make them truly special places to be.

You will maximise revenue potential in a challenging environment, where footfall fluctuates and demographics vary between units. You will create an environment that is of high operational standards, while also being an enjoyable, welcoming and inclusive place to work and visit.

Life Cafés & Resorts operate in venues across the UK, so there is plenty of room for development and progression within the company.

The Area Operations Manager is directly accountable for:

Management:

  • Working closely with the Café Managers to organise and control all elements of the Cafés in your area in line with company standards and procedures, ensuring the delivery of the financial EBITDA target.
  • Proactively implement and manage excellent guest experience standards and guest experience strategies to meet the varying needs of our customers, in differing markets.
  • Implement existing and develop new processes and procedures, to support a consistent and collaborative way of working across all Cafés within your area.
  • Drive a problem-solving culture by empowering the Café Managers and their teams and set clear expectations whilst providing the tools and ability for them to resolve the issues independently.
  • Manage agreed budgets for controllable expenses and wage costs alongside determining and implementing strategies to increase year on year sales and to achieve KPIs.
  • Identify and implement creative strategies and concepts to maximise sales and optimise the Cafés revenue potential.

Health & Safety, Compliance

  • Working with the Café Managers and the Head of Health and Safety, you will ensure H&S procedures are strictly followed in all relevant capacities.
  • Ensure all sites comply with the required standards for H&S and food hygiene at all times.
  • Ensure effective completion and execution of any action points from internal or local authority inspections.
  • Safeguarding the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, guests and visitors by enforcing a ‘safety first’ culture.
  • Support the H&S infrastructure within the Cafés and work with the management teams to complete internal audits, risk assessments and reviews as required under instruction from the Head of Health and Safety.

People

  • Work with the HR & People team and the Café Managers to ensure optimum staffing levels for all Cafés.
  • Ensure that company-standard training programmes are being carried out regularly, so all team members working within your area are trained to the highest standard, in Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, Customer Service, Manual Handling, Cash Handling and more.
  • Consistently support and develop the management structures within the Cafés in your area and empower your people to flourish in their roles.

Unit presentation, development and opportunities:

  • Work with the Marketing and Food Development teams to tailor and shape the offering to the demographic, and assist in the coordination of menu changes.
  • Ensure all Cafés follow the expected brand and presentation standards through POS, branding materials and look and feel.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to further develop the Cafés within your area, through revenue boosting concepts, partnerships, suppliers or schemes.
  • Promote a focus on community outreach and engagement within the Cafés and ensure we are constantly solidifying and growing our relationships within the community and local area.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience at an Operations Manager level of a multi-faceted similar operation.
  • Minimum experience: 5 years.
  • Strong background in Hospitality
  • Excellent understanding of H&S in the hospitality environment.
  • Experience in successfully leading a team.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Fluent IT literacy with the ability to successfully navigate differing systems.
