Archivist sought by Iconic British Brand for their extensive Library of Styles and Prints
My Client is one of the world’s favourite Fashion and Homewares brands.
An Iconic British Brand they are now looking for an Archivist for their extensive Library of Styles and Prints.
The Archive, documents the history of the brand dating back to the 1950’s.It has over 98,000 physical items consisting of product samples, original artworks, and antique textiles. The Archivist would work alongside the Archive Supervisor managing both the physical archive and digital archive database.
- Educated to degree level with a qualification in archives and records management or a related, ideally a Postgraduate qualification in archives and/or records management (ARA accredited)
- 1+ years of experience in an equivalent post
- Knowledge and experience of archiving practice
- Significant experience working with physical as well as digital based archives and cataloguing in an archival context, with thorough knowledge of descriptive standards
- Interest in interior design and/or fashion with a specific interest in prints
- Proven digitisation skills, with sound experience in scanning/photographic software
- Microsoft office suite; Excel, Word & Google suite
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated with an ability to work independently, and as part of a team
- Management and cataloguing of all items to be added to the physical archive complying with all relevant archival standards
- Knowledge of archive preservation and conservation measures and re-housing of archive materials
- Key project – Manage project to build a new digital print database
- Overseeing and maintaining the Archive’s database; including working with colleagues on how to contribute new additions to the physical and digital Archive
- Working with individuals and organisations who may have products to contribute to the Archive
- Overseeing copyright clearance for identified material
- Managing loans of material from the physical archive; internally to the London based design teams
- Conducting research for design and marketing purposes for the brand team and key brand partners
- Planning archive related events
