The School of Advanced Study – a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence in the promotion and facilitation of research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It comprises eight research institutes as well as centres in Digital Humanities and Public Engagement. It has four recognised specialist research libraries.


The Role

This is a new opportunity for an archivist to work with the 4 libraries of the School located in the Institutes of Advanced Legal Studies, Classical Studies, Historical Research and Warburg including on specific archive projects, giving advice, offering practical help, scoping new projects and taking responsibility for the development and promotion of access to archival and manuscript collections in all formats. It is expected that the post holder will develop digital archives capability, knowledge and skills. The post holder will work with partners around the University including those in Senate House Library and wider profession to take advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies to increase access to the collections and contribute to archive strategy, policy and procedure.

The University currently operates a Hybrid Working framework involving a mix of working remotely and in the office. Typically, the majority of employees will be able to agree to work remotely for up to 60% of their working week, role dependent, however will be required to attend on specific days for training or team meetings
