The Opportunity
This post will work with the Archive team to undertake basic collections management tasks. The main project will be working on our Licenced Products collection of merchandise to sort, repackage and catalogue the collection. There will also be opportunities to contribute to other aspects of the departments regular work offering a broad experience of working in a corporate archive.
Key Responsibilities:
- To sort and repackage archive material to agreed procedures
- To create box lists and catalogues of archive collections
- To undertake other collections management duties as required
- Moving heavy boxes and other types of material in dusty and sometimes unpleasant environments
- Other clerical or administrative work needed to run the archive
- To undertake any other duties which may be required
- To undertake training deemed necessary by your manager
Skills and Experience Required:
Knowledge & Experience
- An interest in the history and brands of DC Thomson & Co Ltd
- Experience of using MS Word and Excel
- Experience of working with delicate materials in a careful manner
- Experience of working well and flexibly with people, especially in a small team
Qualifications
- A good standard of education with a qualification at English standard grade (or equivalent) or above
Skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to organise own workload and meet deadlines
- Willing to learn new things and ways of working
- Ability to lift and move heavy boxes and work in sometimes unpleasant environments

This is a full-time placement, working 35 hours per week from our Kingsway Office for six weeks between July & August. Please note, we are also happy to discuss flexible working patterns for those who might find a full-time placement challenging. We pay the real living wage and offer an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic media company.
