Role Purpose
Working in the focussed, dynamic Seafood team, the Aquaculture Scheme Co-ordinator will work to ensure that aquaculture certification schemes are delivered to a consistently high level. As accredited schemes, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance with the standards and ensuring that audit programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. You will be required to present customers, technical experts/auditors and senior management with up-to-date accurate information relating to program delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of procedures, processes and documentation for relevant aquaculture schemes to become a team specialist.
- Carry out duties as necessary for the effective administration of designated aquaculture certification schemes including, but not limited to, maintaining and updating customer records, information and certifications as needed.
- Schedule, allocate and project manage audits for designated schemes to scheme, accreditation body and company requirements.
- Build relationships with technical experts and auditors to optimise teamwork and organise any travel plans, site audits in association with travel companies and other agencies such as visa organisations.
- Develop relationships with scheme owners to keep up to date with scheme regulations, standard updates and other relevant communications. Investigate opportunities to drive operational efficiencies in administration, support processes and systems, and where appropriate use your initiative to implement and drive change.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience with administering company compliance requirements
- A strong grasp of administrative programmes/software and database management
- An interest in marine science/aquaculture
- Tertiary education (preferably in a relevant subject)
- Well organised with the ability to plan and schedule work effectively.
- Analytical approach to work and excellent attention to detail
Desirable items, additionally advantageous for aspiring candidates, include:
- Qualifications or experiences relevant to seafood, the marine environment, fisheries, aquaculture or equivalent.
- Prior experience of accredited certification schemes and auditing, particularly in aquaculture schemes such as Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), Global GAP or equivalent but alternatively in other seafood or food-related schemes (MSC, BRC, SQF etc).
- Second or subsequent languages (other than English).
