Background
The apprentice roles will be based in the School of Technology's Technical department consisting of a team of technical staff that support the teaching and research activities of the school. There are two positions, and although one post is aligned to Electrical Engineering and the other to Mechanical Engineering both posts will follow a broad program of training covering all aspects of engineering.
Responsibilities
The Scheme is a a four year programme combining off the job training in the first instance followed by attendance at a college of FE to gain an appropriate technical qualification at level 3 and for the right candidate the opportunity to progress to a level 4 (HNC) qualification within the 4 year scheme
By the end of the apprenticeship the successful candidates will have accrued foundational knowledge and experience as a well-rounded electrical or mechanical technician and be able to undertake manufacturing work independently and contribute to the design process for teaching, research and other aspects of the work of the School.
You will also be assigned a workplace mentor who will support you to develop and apply your newly acquired skills in the workplace
Person Specification
Applicants should possess (or expect to gain) 4 GCSE O’levels at minimum grade 6 (previously grade B) including mathematics , English and a science subject
No prior work experience is required.
We are looking for people who are passionate about ‘hands on’ practical engineering, and who are committed to learning first-hand the skills to develop into a fully qualified Technician.
