Job description
HEINEKEN Brewer Apprenticeship – Tadcaster
Do you or do you know someone who has a thirst for learning as well as an interest in becoming one of our future Brewers or even develop into our Brewing Manager? If so, a Brewer apprenticeship with HEINEKEN could be a great opportunity to get your foot in the door.
Salary and package: £17,140 first-year salary & award-winning double matched pension plus a fantastic benefits package including all accomodation costs paid for and a food allowance when you're studying.
All of our apprenticeships start on the 1st September 2023. Applicants must be 18 years old or older on or before the start date.
About the role:
You’ll work towards a Level 4 Brewer Apprenticeship over a 2-year period. Your time will be split between study blocks at University and on-site working alongside our Brewing colleagues, learning and performing the role of a Technical Operator. The focus of the apprenticeship is to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours about process safety, quality and operation as well as continuous improvement approaches in HEINEKEN’s brewing environment. Because of the technical elements involved in the learning, we ask that all applicants must have 5 GSCE’s or equivalent – including at least a level 6 in Maths and a level 4 in English.
As part of the journey to achieve your apprenticeship, you’ll take the internationally recognised IBD General Certificate in Brewing exam.
If you’re looking at pursuing a career as a Brewer, an apprenticeship is a brilliant place to begin the journey. You’re able to gain hands-on experience whilst getting paid to do so! Your training costs are covered and you will gain nationally-recognised qualification to a trade. You also have the opportunity to work in different areas of Brewing and potential to gain higher level qualifications.
What do our current apprentices think? We’ve asked a few of them!
Why did you choose the brewing apprenticeship?
“I’d been looking for an apprenticeship and this is the first time I saw this type of opportunity, I’m really interested in brewing and but didn’t know where to start to become a brewer and plus it's Heineken and John Smith’s so I knew I’d learn the best way. I’m only in the first month of my programme and I know I’ve made the right decision, everyone has made me feel really welcome”
What’s it been like being on the programme?
“Each day brings its new set of challenges, which keep this job very exciting; in terms of all previous employment I have had, I never looked forward to going to work; but this job is different, the people and the atmosphere make coming to work incredibly rewarding.”
Why choose us?
“It is a great industry to get into! Being an Operator also offers you a lot of skills, which will help if you want to move into different areas of business, such as production, packaging and logistics.”
