The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Press & PR team in our Norwich office, to learn the tools-of-the-trade as an apprentice in our expert team of press and PR professionals.
The Press & PR department is responsible for coordinating the media and public relations of the company, building relationships with journalists and ensuring the perception of the company is positive.
You will be learning on the job with the two existing members of the Press & PR team, and will be comfortable dealing with a wide range of internal departments, including interacting with the data analytics team and wider editorial staff.
You will learn about how to provide responses to the media, how to craft and distribute press releases, and how to plan and deliver public relations events and campaigns.
The role is based on the successful completion of the Level 4 Public Relations and Communications Assistant apprenticeship, which is expected to last 12 months. The apprenticeship may lead to a permanent position at the end of the apprenticeship based on performance and subject to successful completion of all elements of the apprenticeship.
Key Duties
- Support the Press & PR Manager and Press & PR Officer in their roles
- Provide timely responses to journalist queries
- Utilise systems and software to extract data
- Support with wider areas including social media, public affairs, and events
- Attend weekly online learning sessions with a dedicated tutor
- Complete a variety of training activities including job shadowing, research, project portfolios and end point assessments.

Essential Skills/Experience
- Minimum 5 GCSE’s grade A*-C/4-9, including Maths and English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
- Skills in IT including Microsoft Office
- Administrative skills
- Excellent time management skills, with ability to prioritise own workload
- Methodical with a keen eye for detail
