About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Finance Assistant in the Estates Services department
The Estates departments is one of the largest departments within the University of Oxford. We are responsible for the management and strategic direction of Oxford University's functional and commercial estate within Oxfordshire. This comprises 260 buildings used for teaching, research, administration, sport, libraries, museums, and ceremonial events, and another 180 properties that we manage commercially, including office space, warehouses and agricultural land and property.
You will be working in the finance team with colleagues who have a wide breadth of knowledge and experience allowing you the opportunity to experience a number of finance roles dealing with accounts payable, accounts receivable and managements accounts, where you will gain a broad understanding of accountancy.

About the apprenticeship
As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College, where you will complete a Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2 Foundation Certificate accounting qualification followed by the L3 AAT apprenticeship.
For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Estates department in Central Oxford. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Abingdon and Witney College. During your apprenticeship, you will need to attend college, 1 day a week (during term time).
In total, it will take 3 years to complete both the Level 2 and L3 apprenticeships, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you
You will be passionate about starting your career in accounting and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.
To complete the level 2 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. If you did not achieve these grades, do not let that put you off from applying as you can study Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship giving you the equivalent qualifications needed.
To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Abingdon and Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
