Apprentice ER/HR Administrative Assistant

The Employee Relations & HR Services team are recruiting for a Level 3 Business Administration (ST0070) Apprentice. The team provide a vital service to UK Power Networks, overseeing the company's remuneration processes, relations with the recognised Trade Unions, HR data management and reporting, including the tactical delivery of generalist HR services across the business.

In this varied role, the ER/HR Administrative Apprentice will support the wider team in organising meetings such as the Trade Union forums, letter and contract preparation, paperwork for the management of terms and conditions of employment, the publishing and circulation of minutes from meetings and will gain a good understanding of agreements and benefits.

By the end of the two-year apprenticeship individuals will be trained to deliver the following activities:

Organising meetings for Trade Union meetings.

Preparation and circulation of minutes of meetings.

Producing letters and correspondence with speed and accuracy

Accurate data entry of data required to set up change to terms and conditions in SAP and other databases in line with Data Protection rules

Production of presentations, reports and data analysis as and when needed

Operate SAP and Success Factors to process data requests and run reports.

Maintain filing such T&C’s information and TU minutes.

Proactively assist with the smooth running of the office

Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders

Build good working relationship with customers and the wider HR team.

Key Skills;

Good GCSE grades with passes in Maths and English, ideally educated to A-Level or equivalent

Strong and accurate attention to detail

Keen to learn with a proactive ‘can do’ attitude

Flexible and adaptable

Able to organise and prioritise workload

Can work within a team as well as on own initiative

Confident in using a number of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Good problem-solving skills

Ability to work safely and in line with workplace policies and procedures

The Process

The selection process for the Business Administration apprentices will consist of one stage:

Interview with Hiring Manager and/or team leader.

Key information:
Successful applicant must be able to organise their own transport to travel to the Crawley, West Sussex office location.

Successful applicant must be willing to apply for a basic DBS check which will paid for by UK Power Networks.

The candidate will work towards successfully achieving an Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 3 through East Surrey College (remotely).

Health & Safety Responsibilities

Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations. Similarly where work activities can have an adverse impact upon the environment, and particularly where there are legal requirements, employees will understand those impacts and the controls they must ensure are applied.

Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.
