You will work towards a Civil Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship at Level 4 over 36 months.
What you'll be doing
Role Purpose: To actively plan and execute of the Permanent Way (plain line and junction work) and Drainage renewals consisting of: engineering prep, logistical planning, setting out, site delivery and follow up. To deliver this work to scope and budget ensuring that all health, safety, quality, sustainability and environmental requirements are satisfied. Co-ordinate works to align and fully integrate with other discipline works to meet the programme.
- Develop and assist time/chainage or programmes of works for core work activities
- Populate resource schedules in line with programme requirements
- Develop the train matrix planning for stage-works using spoil and ballast calculations
- Formulate stressing plans, locations, stressing considerations, structure loading and clearances
- Explore opportunity to improve the design with regard to efficiency, budget and engineering focus
- Report issues and problems to Project Engineer
- Effectively manage the utilisation of plant and equipment on site
- Plan and optimise the work on a day to day basis
- Deliver the Project to time and within cost targets, interfacing with other disciplines as appropriate
Who we're looking for
- You will have a minimum of 2 A-Levels and 5 GCSE’s 9-4 including Maths & English or equivalent
- You will have a keen interest in Rail.
- You will have a have a friendly, flexible approach to your working day and a willingness to work with and support colleagues
- You will have an enthusiastic, engaged attitude and eagerness to learn and develop personally and professionally
- Ideally hold a UK driver’s license
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK at the time of joining
- Pass pre-employment medical which will include a Drug & Alcohol test
