We are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice Cyber Security Specialist to join us at the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC) as the work we do continues to expand!

What is the role?

As an apprentice, you will develop the skills and knowledge to be responsible for:

  • Maintain Cyber tracking information including Asset Management, Configuration Management, Threat Protection and Compliance
  • Help to ensure the security of client and server computers and mobile devices by advising on Security updates and addressing vulnerabilities
  • Monitor security measures for the protection of the organisations data, systems, and network
  • Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly, including Policies and Procedures
  • Advising staff on Best Practice for Cyber Security
  • Respond to system and/or network security breaches
  • Testing and identifying network and system vulnerabilities

On a daily basis, you will primarily be working with the IT systems colleagues and the IT Support Team leader. You will also be working with Information Technology Suppliers, Cyber Security suppliers and advisors (e.g. NCSC) and colleagues and stakeholders from across NIHR including other coordinating centres.

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will receive the necessary support to grow your skill set during the job, working with senior colleagues who will mentor and train you.
