Suffolk County Council’s IT Service is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join us as an Apprentice Cyber Security Analyst based in Endeavour House, Ipswich.

This is an exciting opportunity to study for a Cyber Security qualification whilst developing your skills.

You will play a key role in the IT Service, as part of the Cyber Security team, supporting colleagues across the organisation.

Your role and responsibilities

  • assist the IT Security Manager with the day-to-day management of cyber security tasks
  • incident management, vulnerability management, risk management, and completing regular security audits
  • assist with the triaging and managing of sometimes complex Information Security Incidents
  • provide Cyber advice, best practice, and solutions , to a variety of audiences with support from IT Security Manager
  • react to vendor security alerts and threats to our assets and communicate these threats to the asset owner so they can be managed
  • analyse and interpret technical output from regular security scans and report the results to the asset owner so that the vulnerability can be closed or mitigated

Your apprenticeship

  • Cyber Security Technologist (level 4) - Cyber security technologist (2021) / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
  • up to 24 months

You will need

  • level 2 English and mathematics or have achieved this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment
  • a keen interest in IT and Cyber Security principles, best practices, and a knowledge of the latest Cyber technologies and global threats
  • ability to effectively analyse, research, and interpret data from technical, vendor, or cyber reports and communicate the requirements to colleagues
  • excellent communication skills and IT skills, be highly organised with a flexible approach to work and the ability to work as part of a small team.

The team

  • You will be part of a busy team that provides the IT Service for Suffolk County Council and Mid Suffolk and Babergh District Councils.
