Job description
RG Kellow Ltd is not just ‘any’ building firm, so we are not looking for just ‘any’ Apprentices. We are seeking high performing and determined individuals to join our team for their long-term career.
Out team are highly skilled, qualified, and quality-oriented construction professionals at the top of their game. They all value training and development and are keen to share their expertise and skills with the next generation of our workforce in partnership with Cornwall College Business. Aidan, one of our current Apprentices said ‘I look back and can’t believe how much ground I’ve covered! I have learned so much more than I would have in a classroom’. This makes us really proud and happy, so we want you to have that chance, too!
We are now recruiting for a keen and committed individual to take up the position of Carpentry Apprentice. This follows the Site Carpentry Level 2 which takes 2 years.
As part of a growing business you are guaranteed variety of work across the public and commercial sectors in places like schools, police stations, hospitals, social housing and commercial premises. Our offices are based in Pool, Redruth and our team live across Cornwall so don’t let transport stop you from applying!
As someone who will be at the heart of every stage of construction, this apprenticeship will suit someone who like precision, enjoys working indoors and outdoors and above all likes working with their hands. That said, we also need flexibility and willingness to support other activities as needed on site to keep our projects moving forwards at pace. At the end of your Apprenticeship we can offer long term career prospects if you demonstrate all the qualities we are seeking.
What we are looking for in you:
You are passionate about carpentry
You are polite, friendly and respectful of colleagues and clients - you will also need a great sense of humour and want to feel part of a friendly work family
You are a good learner and committed to the apprenticeship process because you will need to keep on top of your college work (we have attached the link to the standard above so you can find out more about what you will learn)
You have integrity and a great work ethic – the basics like being punctual, reliable, and hardworking
If you are a bit of a perfectionist, you will be right up our street
You are willing to go the extra mile to support the planet and adopt environmentally friendly working practices
How to Apply:
Please send us an email containing the following:
1. In the title of your email, state your name and write Carpentry
2. Attach your up-to-date CV or complete the application which you can download on our website www.proper-job.com

a. Why you want to be an Apprentice and why you are passionate about construction
b. Tell us briefly about your proudest achievement in life (so far) and why you feel that way
c. Tell us 3 reasons why we are the employer for you
Please feel free to include any photos or evidence you want to show us. We are also open to you telling us anyway you like and In terms of format, you might consider writing a traditional cover letter and feel free to include some photos, or making a short Tik Tok style film or creating a 3-slide PowerPoint Presentation or some other method we haven’t thought of!
We don’t mind how you tell us – we are looking for enthusiasm and a can-do attitude rather than budding film makers or PowerPoint presenters! But we do want you to have some fun with your application – so give us your best shot.
