Description

Assist a Lead carpenter with construction of loft conversions and remodelling projects

• Assist with 1st fix and 2nd carpentry with a view to being able to undertake such work independently after required training
• Attend courses on carpentry
• Learn and practice essential carpentry skills on the job
• Maintain a safe work environment
• Set up and maintain tools for your supervising carpenter
• Use all tools, equipment, and materials safely
• Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, customers, and clients
• Learn the uses of different types of wood and choosing the right material for the job
• Understand technical drawings and how your work will fit within the building.
• Conduct site surveys
• Measure and mark wood according to technical designsCut wood on machines or by hand
• Produce and read of cutting lists
• Estimate the materials needed for a job
• Conduct quality checks

Entry requirements

• GCSE A-C/9-4 or equivalent in Maths and English
• Functional skills will be required to be attend if C grade/4 has not been achieved.

Training to be provided

• Intermediate Apprenticeship Carpentry and Joinery Level 2
• Employment, Rights & Responsibilities
• Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills
• Functional Skills in English and Maths

Things to consider

Due to the nature of loft conversions there will be a fair amount of working outdoors
required. This can mean at times we need to work in the rain.
Also this requires us to work at a height

• Fully fledged carpenter (Level 2 or 3)
• Proficient at all aspects 1st and 2nd fix carpentry
• Able to ild every carpentry element of loft conversions independently.

Hours per week 40
Working week Monday- Friday 8am-4pm
