Produce CAD drawings and documents in line with Company and Industry Standards, to budget and programme.
General Summary
This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking for on-the-job training rather than continuing full-time education. You will need to demonstrate your enthusiasm for engineering and willingness to apply yourself in a workplace environment.
- Produce quality drawings using current CAD systems to undertake/assist in electrification design in accordance with WHRS quality management system, to meet agreed programmes and budgets.
- Ensure that the Company Design Assurance is applied to all allocated projects
- Assist in the maintenance of CAD manual and cell libraries as directed by the BIM Manager.
- Ensure all works meet the company/client CAD manual requirements
- Ensure all works satisfy the required BIM level of detail for the stage of design
- Such duties and tasks as are allocated to you at the discretion of the Company. Such duties will be within capabilities, qualifications and certification of the post holder.
- Assist in maintaining Design Procedures to ensure they meet the company’s quality and environmental procedures and current best engineering practice.
You will develop skills in AutoCAD and other software and have the opportunity to undertake day-release education to obtain level 3 diploma in Design and Draughting & BTEC level in Construction and the Built Environment.
10 Week intense specialist training for successful candidates will cover the following AutoCAD, Structural Draughting & Detailing, Basic Design Principles, Tekla Structures, Auto Desk Revit.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification you will gain is: Engineering Design & Draughtsperson Level 3
You will learn how to:
The apprentice will be trained in aspects of disciplines such as principles of design, identify and analyse design options and selecting the appropriate design, types of drawings and specifications, characteristics of materials, producing drawings using appropriate computer aided design packages such as AutoCAD, Revit and abbreviations and symbols used in design and draughting.
How will it be delivered:
- 2 ½ Year Apprenticeship Programme
- Design and Draughting Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours – delivered in the workplace
- Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment – Day Release or Remote Delivery (Optional Qualification)
- Specialist Training Programme Blocks of your choice
- End Point Assessment – Knowledge Test, Practical Test and Presentation/Interview
Apprentices must show commitment to the following:
- To achieve apprenticeship standard within the specified time frame
- Attend the apprenticeship induction programme
- Attend all of the training sessions for the programme whenever necessary
- Undertake any other required development work as part of the apprenticeship programme as requested
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.

Desired qualifications required:
- Grade 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent GCSE grades in Maths & English
- Driving Licence is desirable

- Possible progression onto an advanced level in all fields of design and engineering in construction, including degree apprenticeships.
