Christopher Stephenson Bricklaying
Christopher Stephenson Bricklaying are looking to take on an Apprentice Bricklayer to work on construction projects in and around Plymouth.
The apprentice will receive full training and support throughout their apprenticeship and will be supervised at all times on the Construction Site.
Christopher Stephenson is an experienced Bricklayer based in Plymouth, carrying out work within Devon and Cornwall and currently working on the new Sherford Site.
Apprenticeship details
The apprentice will be supervised at all times working closely with the employer to learn all aspects of bricklaying. Work duties will include:
· Laying blocks and bricks
· Interpret drawings and specifications
· Labouring
· Setting out work areas
· Preparing mortar by hand
· Measuring materials and cutting
· Keeping all work areas clean and tidy
· Manual Lifting.
Attendance will be required at Skills Group in Plympton, as part of the Apprenticeship off the job training.
The Apprentice will be working towards the Level 2 Bricklayer Apprenticeship Standard which will take approximately 24-27 months to complete. You may also work towards achieving Functional Skills Maths and English.
You will need to have a CSCS Card to work on site. Tests can be sat within Skills Group.
Skills Required:
· Good practical skills
· Passionate about construction
· Ability to work in an accurate and organised manner
· Awareness of Health and Safety
· Ability to work as part of a team and a good level of fitness.
Personal Qualities:
· The apprentice must be reliable and motivated to work within the construction sector and motivated to gain a national recognised qualifications.
· Good communication skills and able to work as part of a team and take instructions.
· Good time keeping is essential, as you need to allow time for travel, which can mean early starts.
· Physically fit with stamina.
Working Week
Approximately £192.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
