About this role
The role will focus on providing technical support in architectural drafting using CAD software in ArchiCAD and/or Revit providing assistance to the wider team of architects and building surveyors. The role will include visiting sites from time to time to gather data, and draw up plans and elevations and digitally model buildings in the soft to produce drawings, before working up proposed scheme.
The role will also involve working with the UK building regulations and gaining good knowledge of them as well as growing skills in sustainable design and building systems and techniques.
Our clients vary from private owner occupiers to private estate owners to institutional client and charities. As such the breadth and depth of property knowledge and experience is an exciting one. A strong mix of new build, repurposing of buildings and working with historic properties is our day mixture of work.
About the Team
The team comprises of a director, three associates, four staff (one of which is on placement until June ’23) and a business administrator. The team skills range between architect, architectural technician, building surveyor and covers Sevenoaks to Salisbury with a sister team covering the South West.
Emphasis on delivering ongoing management advice and support across a wide range of rural property mainly residential but also commercial and heath care sectors.
How you’ll make an impact
The Architectural and Building Surveying team is a well-established and high performing team across the south coast. It has a wide diversity of clients and projects with a multitude of different requirements and issues that all need the support of an excellent technician/technologist.
The role does need an attention to detail, ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge. A strong aptitude to the use of computers and CAD (computer aided design) is required and skill and interest in graphic design and appreciation of architecture.
Good communication and organisational skills are vital to succeed as an Apprentice. You will need the ability to manage a varied workload working as part of a team while also having the ability to use your own initiative, and be passionate about delivering the best service possible for your team and clients.
English and Maths GCSE grade 4 and above is a mandatory requirement.
Training
The degree you'll attain will be Architecture BA (Hons). The course is 4 years part-time. The course is fully validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects and prescribed by the Architects Registration Board.
