Advanced Apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering - DHL

We are now seeking highly motivated and driven individuals, who are enthusiastic about a career in aviation engineering, and wish to join our dynamic Apprenticeship scheme in 2023.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
•You must have the right to work and live in the UK.
• You must have been fully resident in the UK, the British Overseas Territories, or Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for the last 3 years.
•GCSE 4-9/A-C or equivalent in English and Maths (Science GCSE 4-9/A-C is an advantage).
•You must have a level 3 Qualification.
•Full UK driving licence (or provisional and actively learning to drive) with access to own transport.

•You must be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and develop yourself.
•You must have a genuine interest in, and passion for aircraft maintenance.
•You will need to demonstrate teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•You will have an analytical approach to solving problems and creating solutions and a great attention to detail.
•You will have Integrity; take responsibility and you will be resilient and be able to cope with change.
•You must adhere to safe systems of working practices and be able to follow direction and process in a respectful and compliant manner.
•You will be innovative and adaptable to change, with a genuine passion and interest in Aviation and Engineering, and an aptitude for the technical skills involved in the role (any experience with mechanical or electrical equipment would be an advantage)
•You will be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
The Position
•This is a fully approved, 2-year Level 3 Apprenticeship programme (Level 3 CAT A Certifying Mechanic Apprenticeship).
•Initial training will be completed at a training centre (in either Gloucestershire or Luton). This stage is normally 8-10 months and Residential. You will therefore need to be prepared to be away from home for this stage. Your accommodation during this period will be provided and funded by DHL Air Ltd.
•The initial training is “off the job” training based in classrooms, workshops and hangars and is academic in nature incorporating many exams and essays.
•On-the-job training will then follow at DHL’s Operational base at East Midlands Airport, therefore the ability to travel is essential.
•You will be required to undertake shift work, both throughout the apprenticeship, and on completion of the course.
•You will be supported throughout all phases of the programme, initially securing UKCAA Part-66 Category A modules on a fully approved course and further modular and practical training towards a Category B1.3 or B2 licence.
•With qualifications gained and practical training your passion will eventually be turned into practical experience in an exciting live environment where you will have the opportunity to learn and develop all the key skills required to start your career in aircraft engineering.
