About the role
Interested in a career in administration and operations? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an apprentice Administrative Assistant in the Divisional Office for the University’s Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM).
This apprenticeship offers a great opportunity to learn about how university departments and museums operate alongside studying for a business and administration apprenticeship qualification.
As the Administrative Assistant, you will provide admin support for the department’s leadership team including the GLAM Divisional Registrar’s office, the Oxford Cultural Leaders team and the Marketing and Communications team. You’ll learn how to carry out a wide range of key admin tasks from organising meetings, minuting committees, updating websites and helping to set up staff events. You’ll also provide admin support for recruitment and work with our Finance team.
You will also work regularly at the History of Science Museum providing support for the Administration and Finance Manager where you’ll get the chance to experience how a museum works from behind the scenes.
About the apprenticeship
For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Divisional Office (GLAM) department in central Oxford.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend training. You will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College, where you will complete a Business Administrator Level 3 qualification. During your apprenticeship, you will have on the job training and will also need to attend 10 weeks of classroom sessions 1 day a week at the College.
In total, it will take 18 months to complete the training as part of a 20-month employment contract, with support from the departments throughout.

About you
You will be passionate about starting your career in business administration and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.
To complete the level 3 apprenticeship, you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. Please note that you will be assessed on Maths and English by Abingdon & Witney College as part of the assessment process regardless of your grades.
There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
