ROLE PURPOSE - WHAT TO EXPECT DAY TO DAY

This role will require travel to China from time to time and sits within the Applied Sciences group our Scientists are focused on supporting the technical development of new and existing products for the core businesses of the Camlin Group. Camlin has a strong product range with a proven track record in the global market but remains focussed on enhancing the capabilities of the Camlin group through innovation and new technologies. The existing products we develop and support include Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) for HV asset monitoring, fault and load management devices for LV distribution networks, and gas sensors used for optimising processes in Biogas/Biomethane plants.


As an Applied Scientist at Camlin, you will be a highly motivated technical expert engaged in the design and development of innovative products and processes, technology evaluation, proof-of-concept, application exploration, rapid prototyping and continuous problem solving. It is therefore vital that you have innate curiosity, a strong appetite for technology, and a determination to achieve success. You will always look for new ways to improve or do things differently, and use your extensive knowledge and experience to solve complex technical problems in the most efficient manner. To be successful in this role, you must be inquisitive, listen to learn, and question the status quo.

REQUIRED CRITERIA & QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL

  • Masters or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent.

DESIRABLE

  • Sound knowledge and experience in data analysis and algorithm development.
  • Experience working at a systems level on complex electromechanical devices.
  • Experience using programming in command and control of devices.
  • Previous industry experience working in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Practical experience with Spectroscopy and/or Optical Engineering knowledge.
