The team
Our ITV Commercial team is responsible for bringing in the £2bn worth of advertising that helps fund ITV's programming. However, our Commercial team isn’t just about advertising sales jobs, with an ever-changing marketplace and a multitude of new platforms just waiting for you to tap into, selling TV and online advertising has never been so exciting.
Within ITV Commercial sits our Measurement Innovation team. As the name suggests, the purpose of this team is to create and scale measurement products for our advertisers that capture the value we create for them through their TV ads, VOD ads, sponsorships and partnerships.
The group has been in operation for about a year and has already delivered innovative new tools for measuring the business outcome of advertising on TV, supplementing traditional TV measurement that focuses on audience reach.
The role
We have a new opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Measurement Innovation team on a permanent basis.
The responsibilities of this role will be varied, but in summary you will be tasked with inventing, piloting and scaling new approaches to effectiveness measurement across ITV’s advertising products - working in close collaboration with advertisers, agencies and internal teams.
So in the role you will:
- Invent new measurement tools and approaches that use ambitious combinations of data and analytical techniques
- Create your own analytical/ML pilots of these approaches - wrestle with data, build models, draw conclusions, influence decisions
- Commission complex, experimental analyses from third party data, research and analysis firms, working closely with them to deliver innovative work to a high technical standard.
- Provide advertisers and agencies who use ITV ad products with neutral, innovative measurement best-practice consultancy.
- Create opportunities to experiment and innovate in measurement with advertisers, pursuing opportunities through to successful completion.
- Build/buy self-serve tools and grow the confidence of non-technical colleagues to use them.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of competitor measurement products and approaches.
- Champion an evidence and model-supported approach to marketing; get advertisers, agencies and internal teams excited about the possibilities of outcome measurement.
- Engage with the Data, Audiences and Marketing teams at ITV to build a group of ‘fellow travellers’ in marketing measurement.
- Stay in touch with the wider data and analytical community (outside of ITV) to identify potential new solutions/products.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Experienced Data Scientist (either with a technical/mathematical degree or similar level attained through experience) who approaches problems with code, not spreadsheets and has a good understanding of a range of languages and common libraries.
- Experience of R or Python.
- Experience of HTML, CSS, Javascript and other frameworks.
- Knowledge of how to measure the impact of marketing on business success, across advertisers large and small, digital and analogue.
- Knowledge of how to set up, use and report on different digital advertising products (e.g you’ve used The Trade Desk, DV360, and Google or Adobe Analytics).
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- Software engineering/development background or experience of working with those skill sets will be highly beneficial.
- Able to work quickly, accurately and comfortably with a wide range of data scales and types (e.g you’ve worked with processing video data to recognise objects or text data to identify common topics).
- Adept at conducting complex data analysis (e.g building MMMs, BLP method and other kinds of model for a mix of predictive, explanatory and decision-making purposes).
- Able to construct statistical analyses to ensure the robustness of findings - i.e ability to figure out the statistical power of a complicated test and control experiment.
- Ability to make the complex simple, and patiently explain technical things to people who come from very different worlds.
- Able to pick up and debug new, unfamiliar tools and techniques.
