Protocol Education are seeking recent Gradudates in Psychology/Sociology/Criminology looking for an exciting opportunity to work as a Learning Support Assistant in a mainstream Secondary School in Newcastle upon Tyne (United Kingdom). You will work in a highly rewarding role, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
This role is perfect for new Graduates seeking a role where they can utilise their transferable skills to understand children's behaviour, and help make a difference in their most crucial stages of development.
We have long-term, full-time positions available ASAP (pending clearance), with the potential to go on until the end of the academic year in 2024.
The key responsibilites of a Learning Support Assistant:
- Supporting children with SEND on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Providing support to children with SEMH needs
- Ensuring that the pupils can integrate as fully as possible in the activities generally undertaken by the other children in the class and make progress.
- Developing knowledge of the particular needs of the children and seeking advice from the SENCo, class teacher and outside agencies as required.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a university degree
- Have excellent communication skills whilst dealing with both children, teachers and parents
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Have an Enhanced DBS/ be willing to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
