IT Application Support Engineer

Role Summary:
Reporting directly to the Application Support Manager, the Application Support Engineer is an important role within the Poundland Group.
You will be responsible for supporting enterprise and bespoke applications that are delivered to workstations and mobile devices. In addition to clearly communicating with internal stakeholders regarding the use our applications. You will be expected to triage and fix issues. You will also support project delivery and application upgrades, including testing in which you will get a wider exposure too. This is a dynamic role which can develop into further responsibilities where you seek to improve.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities / Duties:
- You will triage, investigate, and provide resolutions for application and computing issues.
- You provide technical knowledge to new initiatives and IT projects.
- You will develop and execute functional and technical test scripts for desktop and mobile platforms when making significant change.
- You will maintain communication via email and in-person to internal customers while working on high impact incidents, problems, service requests and projects.
- Deploy executables, medium scale integration, app packages and scripts to desktop and mobile clients. Making use of silent installation and configuration parameters.
- Develop configuration files and software policies by using programming languages and deployment tools.
- Create new configurations standards and policies to ensure end user devices, applications and collaboration tools perform at optimum level.
- Use query languages to provide data requests to end users via the ticketing system.
- You will be responsible for ensuring end user devices remain secure and bug free by configuring and executing application and operating system updates.
- You maintain, update, and create support documentation for end users and the wider IT support teams.
- You define hardware standards, procure devices from external suppliers, and create new hardware images for end user devices.
- You will monitor configuration compliance and provide fixes to non-compliant devices.
- Manage endpoint infrastructure ensuring systems remain healthy and up to date.
- You will perform OS, application and end user management tool upgrades.
- Maintain the software catalogue by updating version records and adding new applications.
- You adhere to high security standards when making changes to desktop and mobile infrastructure.
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work multi workloads simultaneously
- You work well under pressure to respond quickly to any production issues and find meaningful workarounds until a release can be made.
- You are flexible and adapt readily to changing priorities and working practices.
- You have Strong troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read code and do critical analysis for incidents
- Adjust quickly to evergreen technologies
- ITIL qualifications would be an advantage.
- Microsoft certifications will also be an advantage.
