We’re the Scottish SPCA. Scotland’s all animal emergency service. Rescue is the start of a journey through rehabilitation to release or rehoming. It means helping struggling owners. It means preventing emergency rescues through education. And it’s always relentless. Because the rescues never stop.


The Scottish SPCA is seeking to recruit an Animal Helpline Operatives. The roles are home based mainly however travel to its Headquarters in Dunfermline is essential for initial interview and training purposes. As the role involves home working, an internet connection is required.


The Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline responds to emergency calls dealing with animals in distress and other related animal matters. The Animal Helpline fields over 230,000 calls per annum and our Inspectors and Animal Rescue Officers will attend over 85,000 incidents this year.


Applicants should have excellent telephone and customer care experience and a keen interest in animal welfare. Previous call or contact centre experience is desirable.


Call levels vary considerably over the year; therefore, the Animal Helpline operates an annualised seasonal shift system on flexible rotas.


A mixture of hours of work are available and involve working up to 4 days out of any 7, on a rota basis to include weekends, working up to 9 hours per day between the hours of 7:30am and 10pm. You should indicate on your application which hours you would like to apply for.


All applicants must be flexible to work between the hours of 7:30am and 10pm.
