The School of Animal Care and Land Management is a growing and aspirational department based at Temple Newsam in Leeds, the department has been self assessed as outstanding for the last 4 years. Our team consists of a Head of Department, Deputy Head, Programme managers, Teachers, learning support assistants (LSA) and Technicians. Our team work to support our learners to achieve their full potential and achieve their vocational qualifications. We are looking for two variable hour technicians to join our team, the successful candidate will care for animals at our animal care centre on site at Temple Newsam. The successful candidates will be required to work weekends, bank holidays and cover sickness and annual leave were necessary. This role is currently advertised as variable hour however there maybe an opportunity for a permenant role within the department in the future.

  • Provide food and water to the animals in the centre and complete relevant husbandry duties
  • Carry out regular behaviour observations
  • Monitor animals' weight and behaviour
  • Follow hygiene rules in the facility
  • Keep accurate records
  • Have a minimum level 3 qualification in animal management or similar
  • Have practical experience working with a wide variety of species
  • Be IT literate and able to use animal record keeping systems
