Wagtail UK are a successful and hardworking kennels dedicated to the care of specialist detection dogs, located in North Wales. We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Kennel assistant to join our team of dedicated staff. All assistants fulfill a vital role in the kennels. Previous experience working in a kennel environment is essential and applicants should be competent handling a wide range of breeds. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with dogs and is used to working in a busy kennel establishment. The position is for weekend work. This is a physically demanding role working in all weathers where your main roles and responsibilities will include:
Kennel Assistant Roles
- Animal Husbandry: Kennel Cleaning, Exercising Dogs, Feeding, administering medication etc.
- Dog grooming
- Attending Vet appointment
- Be competent in completing daily paperwork
- Ensuring that our high levels of cleanliness are maintained
- DIY and general maintenance of the kennel grounds
- Various kennel related tasks
Experience and Skills required:
- Experience in an animal boarding establishment
- Preferred experience on an animal studies course focusing on welfare, health and behaviour.
- Be confident working with a variety of breeds and dogs with various behavioural issues
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly approachable manner
- Ability to problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment
- A candidate who can use Initiative and be willing to have a hands-on approach
- Proactivity and enthusiasm
- Baseline Personnel Security checks are required for this position
- UK Driving Licence Required
Qualifications are preferred but not essential
Working hours vary between 08:00-17:00 on Saturday & Sunday.
Hourly rate will also vary depending on experience.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 16 per week
Salary: £9.50-£10.42 per hour
