We are looking for a Team Lead (Lab Animal) to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Cambridge, MA.

What you will do!
In this role, you will provide oversight and support to the program by assisting the facility manager with creating the daily husbandry schedule, overseeing cagewash operations, conducting room inspections to assess animal health and cage environment, as well as record keeping. In addition, you will provide leadership and guidance to the husbandry staff on operations and facility issues to include investigating operational issues, gathering/compiling information, and submitting it along with recommendations for resolution to the FM. You will provide training to new hires as it relates to animal care and facility operations; oversee and deliver on complex husbandry for models that need additional clinical observations, special care and attention.
You will monitor daily animal health and do observations daily; perform animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of the research animals; record animal health concerns per protocol and maintain records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas. In addition, assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as assigned, as well as simple veterinary care and treatments. The Team Lead will provide technical support to include rodent euthanasia, ear tagging, anesthesia via isoflurane, micro-chipping; in addition, review animal procurement records/reports for proper caging/housing assignments, diets, cage card documentation and animal identification. You will be tasked with receiving, inspecting, and putting away incoming animals and ensuring each housing area has sentinel animals. Working knowledge of strain nomenclature and genetics is needed.
In this role, you will also be asked to provide quality assurance to include animal health surveillance, monitoring of the effectiveness of facility sanitation, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), as well as internal facility reports for monitoring deviations from pre-established parameters.
A candidate that possesses a high school diploma or GED is required, (a B.S. in either animal science or similar discipline preferred); has a minimum 3 years’ related animal care and handling experience in combination with facility and equipment knowledge. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for what is listed. LAT or higher preferred; LATg eligibility required.
The pay range for this position is $30-32 USD an hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
