About the role

As a part of our dedicated team you will be key to preserving our high standards of day to day care and presentation of the collection.

The Candidate

The responsibilities of this role are inclusive of, but not limited to:

  • Keeping animal records up to date
  • Ensuring all enclosures are kept clean, safe, well enriched, and presentable at all times.


  • Preparing and serving an enriched and balanced diet to a range of animals, weighing regularly, and adapting as per discussions with the supervisor.
  • Completing additional allocated tasks in a timely manner


  • Observing, monitoring, and recording wellbeing with regular health and weight checks
– Behaviour training and enrichment tasks
  • Assisting medical staff during treatments
  • Communicating with the area supervisors on any potential veterinary needs
  • Stock control of consumables

In addition to daily tasks the candidate should be competent in all aspects relating to their areas of speciality.

We are looking for Animal care assistants with prior experience in caring for a variety of animals, including the following:

  • Hoofstock

  • Avian – (inc. Falconry)

  • Reptile

  • Small mammals

Ideally candidates will have relevant experience in more than one area listed above.


What we are looking for in our Animal care assistants?

  • Previous experience working in an appropriate animal care position (3 years Minimum), ideally with recognised qualifications.


  • A responsible, proactive communicator, willing to rethink everything to create breakthrough experiences for people and animals alike.



  • A keen eye for detail, able to self motivate and manage, who actively shows passion and enthusiasm for their animals and pushes themselves to perform at the highest levels every day and takes pride in their work.

  • Car driver (due to rural location and some aspects of the job).

Accomodation can be negotiated into contract, if required.
