Job description
Weekend /Seasonal Kennel & Cattery assistant for busy boarding Cattery & Kennels in Peacehaven, East Sussex required.
Suitable for those possibly studying animal management, canine behaviour or an animal related subject.
Flexible to work during summer, holidays, half terms, bank holidays and weekends, sometimes at short notice. It is essential that you live near to Peacehaven, or have access to transport.
We have a lot of dogs to walk in all weathers and is a very physically demanding role. Animal care is predominantly an external job so it's working in cold and wet conditions, and we are open 365 days a year!
Permanent role for the right person.
This role would suit an energetic person who has a passion for working with and caring for animals.
The role will involve working within a busy team: walking, grooming, feeding and providing a high level of care for our animals.
Main duties
· Feeding and exercising dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes and temperments
· Cleaning Kennels and Cattery
· Ensuring health checks and hygiene of the animal are adhered to.
· Customer service – providing a high level of service to our customers.
· Feeding & Administering medicine (when trained)
Requirements
· Must have a genuine passion for dogs and cats
· Previous experience in animal care is preferred, ideally within a Kennel and/or cattery
· Being familiar with handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments
· Physically capable
· Team player - able to work effectively in a small team and/or under own initiative
· Strong work ethic – reliable and punctual
· Good time management
· Willingness to roll sleeves up and get hands dirty!
· Must be flexible – days and hours may vary depending on shift patterns and staff availability
