Grade C - £30,022 (National Framework) or £35,191 (London Framework – if you are London office based or homebased and live within the boundary of the M25). There is also an additional homeworking allowance of £529 per annum for those working from home.

We have a number of exciting new roles across the Data and Insight Unit for people with quantitative analysis experience;
Strategic Insight:
Strategic Insight’s goal is to deliver actionable analysis and insight to inform CQC strategic priorities and help us to be a forward-looking, data led regulator. We support the organisation to make decisions about where we should focus and invest our resources. We are also vital in supporting CQC’s Independent Voice – providing the public and our stakeholders with independent analysis and expertise on the most important issues in the health and social care sectors. The function works on fascinating projects tackling high priority topics and exploring trends across the health and social care sectors.
Operational Insight:
The Operational Insight function is the face of the Data and Insight Unit for operational colleagues. We work collaboratively with regional and national inspection teams to deliver insight through the analysis of data to support the regulation of health and care services in England, answering the 'so what?' and helping to inform the 'now what?'. The function is also responsible for helping to build a data-driven culture in the operational teams.
Analytic Content:
The Analytic Content function is responsible for acquiring and transforming content to develop and maintain key analysis to support how CQC regulates services. Analysts in the team develop measures of quality and risk about health and care services, using large volumes of quantitative data and applying the most appropriate analytical methodologies.

Accountabilities for Quantitative Analyst roles:
- Select the best data, tools and methods to deliver needed insight.
- Undertake analysis to extract relevant information and insight, including from across multiple data sources, presenting it in a clear and actionable manner.
- Promote best practice in capture, recording and storage of data by stakeholders.
- Develop CQC led data collection initiatives where external sources do not meet CQC’s data requirements.
- Design and undertake bespoke quantitative data collection where required.
- Design and develop compelling visualisations and reports to communicate and highlight insight and data.
- Incorporate views of the public and people using services are into the design and delivery of Data & Insight services and products.
- Design and undertake appropriate quality control and assurance for delivery of outputs.
- Promote a strong data culture across CQC in line with the organisational data strategy.
- Role model inclusive behaviours in everyday interactions.
- Promote a culture of respect and fairness and understand personal responsibilities around delivering against CQC diversity and inclusion strategy.

- Support and provide guidance for stakeholders on use of insight, including supporting effective use of standard Data and Insight products.
Accountabilities specific to Strategic Insight and Operational Insight roles:
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders and teams within the function and unit to scope, refine, and shape analysis to meet organisational needs.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure products are fit for purpose and deliver required outcomes.
- Deliver, and support the development, of bespoke insight reports and analysis, e.g. thematic reports, bespoke dashboards and insights
- Support collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, to develop new insights and reports suitable for external publication
- Develop insight monitoring and proactive identification of risk and emerging issues for organisational priorities
Accountabilities specific to Analytical Content roles:
- Deliver, and support the development, of the data acquisition service, including the acquisition of new data sets and the maintenance of existing datasets, in line with CQC’s priorities.
- Develop analytical content – including data transformations, business logic, indicators, and risk models - to support requirements for Insight outputs and products.
- Support collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, including data owners, to develop content required to meet CQC’s requirements.
- Undertake analysis to support the development and delivery of analytical content, presenting it in a clear and actionable manner.
- Actively support common ways of working for content development – including data acquisition services, and indicator development.
Essential Skills and Experience for Quantitative Analyst roles:
- Educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience.
- Strong quantitative analytical skills.
- Understanding of qualitative methods.
- Previous experience of working in an analytical role.
- Proven ability in application of techniques for analysis of data and synthesis of findings and knowing how to involve team in analysis and synthesis.
- Knowledge of how and when to practically apply existing best practice methodologies and solutions.
- Experience of developing data models and understand where to use different types of data models. Including understanding of industry-recognised data-modelling patterns and standards.
- Proven ability set up a system to get data ready for use and specify how data should be cleansed and prepared.
- Experience of working flexibly and in multi-disciplinary teams with the ability to engage well with colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Good decision-making skills and capability to make sound judgements.
- Ability to identify problems and resolve or escalate as appropriate.
- Ability to understand stakeholder needs and manage stakeholder expectations through the use of data and insight.
- Proven ability to tailor the communication of insight in the most appropriate and compelling way for the audience, including through storytelling and visualisation.
Desirable Skills and Experience for all Analyst roles:
- Knowledge and understanding of the health and care sectors.
- Experience of using record-level health and care datasets.
