We are currently hiring an Analyst for the Secondaries team. The Secondaries group sits within CPP Investments’ Private Equity department and directly invests in the secondary private equity market. Leveraging CPP Investments’ strategic advantages of scale, best in class GP relationships and an established track record. CPP Investments has built a team of world class investors dedicated to investing in private equity secondaries.
As an Analyst, you will work with Associates, Senior Associates, Principals and Managing Directors on an ongoing basis as well as on deal teams with the following responsibilities:
- Establish robust quantitative and qualitative understanding for Secondaries transactions and the group’s product suite
- Conduct technical research by leveraging internal and external resources including key information services and databases
- Actively participate in the due diligence process, including building financial models, leading due diligence meetings, contributing discrete pieces of analysis and insight, and proactively conducting research to address diligence issues
- Support analysis and content creation for investment documentation and memos and assist in preparing for the transaction closing process
- Balance multiple deal teams at a given time in a supporting role
- Actively participate in investment meetings by presenting transactions and taking part in the Q&A discussions of transactions brought forward by other deal teams
- Evaluate assigned funds on a quarterly basis and collaborate across Funds and Secondaries to identify unique themes and opportunities
- Proactively monitor ongoing financial performance of portfolios for closed transactions and reporting any meaningful developments and insights
A particular focus is placed on helping Analysts and Associates develop a well-rounded set of skills as an investor and leader with (i) a strong understanding of the deal process from origination through to exit and (ii) the ability to participate in our broader Private Equity discussions and decision making.
- Relevant related work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, private equity, business development, etc.)
- Excellent research, financial modeling, analytical and valuation skills, including experience evaluating and building DCF and LBO models
- Have a track record of academic achievement and professional advancement
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Willingness to travel
- Have great communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
