Job description

The Analyst, Global Advocacy works directly with the Chief of Advocacy to help develop and implement strategies for increasing the impact of Crisis Group's global conflict prevention and resolution work. In this role you will support the expansion of Crisis Group's global advocacy networks, with a focus on the UK, and help ensure that our advocacy is timed to ensure maximum influence. You will also assist in the monitoring and communication of Crisis Group's advocacy impact.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and delivery of innovative advocacy plans and campaigns for Crisis Group publications, including the organisation of events to showcase our research and policy recommendations;

  • Support the expansion and strengthening of Crisis Group's global advocacy networks, including by building and maintaining a central database of contacts;

  • Build and maintain a strong network of contacts in the UK government and wider UK policy system and monitor developments in UK foreign policy;

  • In coordination with the communications team, build and maintain a central calendar of events and anniversaries relevant to the conflicts and thematic issues that Crisis Group covers in order to identify potential advocacy hooks for publications and other outputs;

  • Work in close collaboration with the President's Office to coordinate and draft talking points for the President & CEO, Chief of Advocacy and others senior staff where relevant;

  • Organise and attend advocacy meetings (online and in person) with Crisis Group staff and represent Crisis Group at meetings with officials, diplomats, think tanks, NGOs, etc;

  • Support the monitoring, measurement and communications of Crisis Group's advocacy impact;

  • Follow international developments in conflict and crisis management and ensure dissemination of relevant information, analysis, and key scholarly or journalistic articles in coordination with the Chief of Advocacy.


Requirements include:

  • A degree in conflict studies, political science, international relations or similar;

  • Three to five years of professional experience in a UK advocacy or policy environment. Experience working or living in conflict or post-conflict environments is desirable;

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding;

  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise and communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders;

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills and an ability to work independently in a fast-paced and often demanding environment. Experience in organising events highly desirable;

  • Fluency in oral and written English is essential. Fluency in another language is desirable;

  • Authorisation to work in the UK.
