Markets UK aims to be the leading Capital Markets service provider to the clients of the bank. The UK market is a key
financial market for the bank to grow its North-West European footprint and forms part of the core strategy of Debt Capital Markets and Financial Institutions & Corporate Coverage. The mission of DCM is to be the bank’s clients’ strategic business partner through the provision of first class funding and capital solutions.
Markets is the heart of ABN AMRO’s Corporate Banking (CB) business. London is the home to the largest number of the bank’s Financial Institution (FI) clients and a significant global asset management hub, as such DCM UK plays a pivotal role in the bank’s desire to provide a sustainable capital markets offering to its clients. These clients are banks, insurance companies, and other FIs. In addition, the bank’s focus is on growing the Corporate client base within its chosen core sectors, as such the DCM offering is also vital to this corporate client group.
The products are vanilla fixed income bonds, such as but not restricted to, senior unsecured bonds, senior nonpreferred unsecured bonds, secured bonds like covered bonds, RMBS and Bank or Insurance Capital products including Tier 2, Tier 3, Additional Tier 1 and Restricted Tier 1 issues.
Wherever appropriate DCM Origination will form part of a Client Service Team (CST), a multidisciplinary team which possesses specialist expertise in the fields that are relevant to the particular client, such as Financial Institutions & Corporate Coverage, Credit Relationship and Portfolio Management, DCM and Corporate Finance.
Your job
The objective of the function is to serve the bank’s UK clients by providing them with funding and capital solutions. Together with other specialist teams, DCM Origination will take part in analysing bank and insurance sector themes and balance sheets, identifying possible funding or capitalisation opportunities, and subsequently pitching the bank’s services and products tailored to specific needs from our client base.
The Analyst, DCM Origination will be responsible for supporting the team in activities in relation to the origination, arranging, and structuring of debt capital markets transactions in various form and sizes, including (i) (non-) investment grade public (listed, unlisted, rated) vanilla or structured bonds, (ii) private placements (e.g. private placements in EUR, RegS USD, GBP or currencies from other OECD countries).
Services provided by the DCM Origination team also involve identifying debt capital markets opportunities for clients, developing and maintaining an on-going relationship with clients by following specific market trends and maturity profiles and understand their funding needs and advise on potential debt capital markets solutions for their refinancing, capital expenditure, and acquisition financing.
The Analyst, DCM Origination has the following responsibilities:
- Acting in accordance with the responsibilities of Certification Employees;
- Support and execution of the bank’s DCM strategy in relation to UK activities;
- As part of the DCM Origination team, focussing on building sustainable client relations and client satisfaction by growing the number of active clients within UK DCM;
- Prepares bespoke marketing material and analyses for DCM meetings alongside the UK Coverage team;
- Assist in preparation of both private and public debt capital market ideas and opportunities to support dialogue with the client base;
- Support the broader DCM Origination team;
- Whilst performing the job and day-to-day business activities for the benefit of the client and/or bank continuously evaluating potential risks as a result of these activities;
- Analysing client requirements and assessing opportunities to deliver products and/or services to meet these requirements;
- Working closely with Fixed Income & Derivatives Sales and Coverage to ensure bespoke and non-standard transactions are executed by assisting in fulfilment of all required due diligence and KYC processes;
- Strictly adhering to all compliance and regulatory policies established in the bank;
- Contributing to appropriate business culture that adheres to conduct and integrity values;
- Cooperating with global locations to maximise the bank’s clients’ service experience and business opportunities;
- Initiating, organising and hosting presentations or similar commercial activities towards (potential) clients regarding the opportunities within the DCM offering and its related topics;
- Assisting in maintaining and building an institutional client portfolio capable of generating revenues in order to meet predefined targets.

- Corporate and Institutional Banking which includes Corporate Banking, Clearing, Global Markets - Sales & Trading and Financial Institutions
- Commercial Banking which includes Asset Based Finance and International Desk, which provides transactional banking services
Our business lines are supported by a number of functions such as Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Finance (Including Tax), Business Management and Human Resources. We currently employ approx. 380 people in the UK.
Your profile
- University education or professional qualification;
- Affinity with financial markets products;
- Basic understanding of capital markets and debt securities
- Knowledge of financial market mechanisms and legislation would be beneficial;
- Ability to communicate clearly and openly;
- Insight into and knowledge of ICT;
- As part of FCA Senior Managers & Certification Regime, obtaining Certification will be required
