Job Description Summary
Lending Operations, part of Markets and Lending Delivery, is the operational centre of excellence for commercial lending execution and servicing activities. The function provides dedicated specialist support for Commercial Banking coverage sectors, Client Products, Business Banking and LBCM.
Job Description
Lending Operations delivers Lending facility documentation, security management, syndicated and bilateral lending, from initial documentation through to drawdown and maintenance of the loan through its lifecycle.
We are looking for a great team player who is client centric, well organised, flexible, and confident with good communication skills and has a passion to progress.
Our Servicing team are accountable for the management of highly complex multi-currency multi-option bilateral and syndicated facilities covering products including term, revolving credit, supply chain finance, receivables purchase, and trade asset management products.
Reporting to the Assistant Manager the Analyst is responsible for accurate and timely completion of all loan servicing tasks, taking ownership for managing their own workload, prioritising urgent matters, and escalating where appropriate. The ability to work to tight deadlines and manage conflicting tasks and priorities is essential. As we also support Lending transactions operating in US and Asia time zones, flexibility, and a willingness to support occasional work outside core hours on a rotational basis is also required.
Whilst some previous experience in Lending is desirable full training will be provided.
Key responsibilities include:
- Accurate set up, settlement and administration of LBG and LBCM commercial lending portfolios, including facility set up, drawdown, interest and principal repayments, fee calculation, invoicing and collection, and reconciliation plus associate lifecycle events.
- Ensuring the accuracy of financial information downstream into group finance ledgers.
- Awareness of operational, financial, market and regulatory risks.
- Delivering high quality, accurate, timely, fair, and efficient client service that satisfies the needs of clients, internal and external stakeholders
- Comfortable engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and directly with clients as required, creating open and honest communications, and being recognised as a respected partner.
- Manages risks by ensuring process controls are performed and maintained.
- Identifies and supports the delivery of enhancements to processes, controls, and working practices to improve efficiency, client service and risk profile.
Key Capabilities/ Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the bilateral and syndicated lending markets and LBG systems, processes, and accounting practices.
- Knowledge of UK and global payment schemes including SWIFT and CHAPS.
- Knowledge of the application of global benchmark funding rates such as LIBOR, EURIBOR, SONIA, SOFR etc.
- Sound understanding of LBG risk framework and escalation processes, and ability to use that understanding in practice.
- Ability to manage own priorities and demonstrate resilience under pressure.
- Understanding of core products and associated procedures, processes, and systems.
- Awareness of the market and how economic, political, and other environmental factors impact market conditions and how LBG is positioned in that context.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and market counterparts.
