About the vacancy
Applicants should have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and be able to work calmly when under pressure. You will provide timely and consistent guidance to users to achieve compliance of the Firm’s AML procedures. The role involves handling highly confidential matters and you will need to support and promote the development of a strong compliance culture within the Firm. You will need to quickly gain a thorough knowledge of the Firm’s AML procedures, policies and CMI process to ensure a speedy resolution of AML ID, SOF and SOW verification checks.
The workload will be varied and you will be required to handle large volumes of work achieving tight deadlines, the ability to work as a team player and being self-motivated will help you in this role.
Ideal candidates should have a good understanding of AML and CTF frameworks, the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, Money Laundering Regulations 2017, Terrorism Act 2000, the Serious Crime Act 2015, the Legal Sector Affinity Group guidance, FATF risk assessments and terrorist financing vulnerabilities of the legal profession. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate experience in reviewing KYC documentation within a professional services environment.
Key responsibilities:
Main duties of the role will include:
Management of CMI workflows, including conflict checks and CDD.
Transparent management of the AML Team Inbox.
Respond in a timely fashion to AML enquiries raised by staff.
Research of foreign and UK entities.
Liaise with Electronic Search Account Manager concerning any escalations or issues on Electronic Searches.
Management of time and financial transaction blocks.
Monitor for material discrepancies in PSC/ROE information, escalate and report as required.
Monitoring for changes to those countries assessed as high risk jurisdictions and jurisdictions under increased monitoring (utilising the FATF “black and grey lists”, EC and UK assessments).
Provide timely and consistent guidance to users to achieve compliance of the firm’s AML procedures.
Identify and escalate non-compliant issues to the firm’s MLRO or a Deputy MLRO liaising with relevant parties as necessary.
Maintain and update internal guidance materials, internal handbook notes and information on firm’s intranet.
Regularly monitor the status of outstanding AML tasks where AML queries have been raised to ensure speedy resolution of client due diligence.
Deliver inductions and training to users on the firm’s AML procedures.
Monitor the firm’s CMI process and identify areas for ongoing improvement or compliance obligations.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Have a thorough working knowledge of the firm’s AML procedure, AML policies and CMI process.
Support the development of a strong compliance culture.
Carry out any other reasonable tasks as and when it may be required by the firm.
Provide support to other AML Team colleagues.
