The Corporate Equity business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management invests in private equity and sustainability-focused companies. The group invests across a broad range of industries, geographies, and transaction types. We pursue a strategy focused on long-term capital appreciation by committing to high-quality companies with strong management teams and actively supporting their development, with the ultimate goal of creating value and harvesting investments within a three to five-year period.
Associates in the Corporate Equity business are part of a talented team of investment professionals responsible for the acquisition and management of investments. You will be involved in a wide range of high-profile transactions, which might include management buy-outs, take privates, add-on acquisitions, build ups, restructurings, recapitalizations and dispositions, with an integral role in the sourcing, deal process and value creation strategy.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Associate with a minimum of 3 years’ full-time experience in buy-side role and a strong knowledge of the French market.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary job responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and analyzing potential investment opportunities with a primary focus on French opportunities, developing and promoting investment theses, working as part of an international team of professionals across Europe and Global offices
- Based in Paris, with frequent travel
- Playing an active role in identifying and sourcing opportunities, building relationships with key stakeholders
- Managing team members across workstreams, and managing external advisors
- Understanding and building up financial modeling for company valuation purposes
- Undertaking significant due diligence responsibilities
- Supporting and participating in structuring, negotiating and documenting investments, with a key role in managing internal and external stakeholders
- Participating in the monitoring of new and existing portfolio investments, creating trustful and solid relationships with management teams and partners at portfolio companies
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
The successful candidate should have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification and have an excellent academic and professional record
- Minimum of 3 years’ full-time experience in buy-side role. Experience in buy-side roles with specific coverage on France or within the French Private Equity industry
- Experience managing team members and external advisors across deal life cycle and platform building
- Strong financial analysis/modelling experience and analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to a variety of industries and businesses and self-direct, analyze and promote independent investment judgments
- Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide range of people across different locations, work effectively in a fast-paced environment and keen to take on responsibility
- Open, flexible, positive and proactive attitude. Detail orientation and high motivation to effectively contribute to the team’ success
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- French and English speaker is a requirement. Other European language skills are a plus
- Flexibility for frequent travel outside of Paris
