Job Overview
- To assist People with Reduced mobility throughout their airport journey
- Driving of Ambulift hi-lift vehicles airside at Birmingham International Airport
- To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development
Main Duties
- To ensure that each vehicle is checked before use, and defects documented as per internal process
- To organise the most efficient and effective way of transporting several PRM's (plus one of their companions) to the various aircraft, ensuring on time departures
- To correctly use a PDA ensuring compliance with time stamping
- To co-ordinate the boarding / disembarkation of PRM's onto / off the aircraft from your vehicle or airbridge, liaising with the aircraft dispatcher and cabin crew to ensure smooth passage
- Overall responsibility for the use of all aspects of the Ambilift vehicle including the tail lift and front platform and their controls
- Driving of minibus and terminal buggies when required
- Marshalling of vehicles
- To report all Accidents / Near Misses
- To keep the vehicles, clean and tidy of FOD
Security and Health & Safety
- Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site
- Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage
- Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening
- To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers
- Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client
- To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents
What we are looking for
- Previous HGV or Hi-lift vehicle driving advantageous
- Airport airside driving experience preferable but not essential
- Clean DVLA Driving Licence
- NVQ Level 2 / GCSE
- 5 year checkable work History
- The role will require you to pass a basic Criminal Record Check / Medical
