Polaris Medical Services are a CQC registered and Home Office Licenced Independent Medical Services and Ambulance provider to several NHS Ambulance Trusts within the UK, providing Front Line Ambulance rapid response vehicles with Qualified Paramedics and Support Staff.
With 17 sites across the UK, 180 fleet vehicles and over 500 clinicians, Polaris are the largest frontline private ambulance provider in the UK and remain the only private ambulance provider in the UK with a CQC ‘Outstanding’ rating for frontline and PTS services.
Due to expansion within our Patient Transport Service (PTS), we are looking to recruit motivated individuals who will work as part of the team within our Non-Emergency Transport Service in the following areas.
- Maidenhead
- Hoddesdon
- Fareham
- Watford
The Patient Transport Service is responsible for providing non-emergency and pre-planned transport, to and from hospitals and treatment centres for patients who have appointments at out-patient clinics, day surgery units, and day centres. The service acts as a vital link between communities and is an important and integral part of the overall package of health care provided on behalf of the NHS.
Successful candidates will be working on a Casual Worker contract and will be expected to work to cover any hours between 0600 - 2300 7 days a week on a rota basis to match the service demands.
Your main responsibilities will include
- Transporting non-emergency patients via an NHS Ambulance to and from hospital appointments or hospital – hospital transfers.
- Helping patients with mobility, including some heavy lifting * Providing a quality and dignified service to all patients
- Ensuring your vehicle and equipment is constantly maintained
- Completing documentation as required
- Following health and safety regulations
The ideal candidate
- Outgoing personality with ability to communicate calmly with patients
- Excellent Communication skills * Confident and safe driver
- Physically fit to undertake all aspects of a patient facing role including the ability to use all aspects of patient manual handling equipment
- Looking for a role within the private ambulance sector
- Previous experience in a care profession would be advantageous
- Knowledge of NHS Patient Transport Operations
- Previous experience of Ambulance Care Assistant Role
- Previous patient facing experience in a professional caring capacity
- First Response Emergency Care Certification (FREC3) - Polaris will fund FREC3 training for the right candidates.
- Full UK manual Driving Licence with no more than 6 points for speeding (any offence relating to drink/drugs on the licence will be rejected)
