Job description
IF YOUR’E LOOKING FOR A NEW OPPORTUNITY IN A FULFILLING CAREER ALONG WITH 1ST CLASS TRAINING, CONSIDER JOINING US AS AN AMBULANCE CARE ASSISTANT.
WHO WE ARE
Community Ambulance Services, (currently transitioning from Falck UK) are part of Community Ambulance Partners, a leader in ambulance services and patient transportation.
We serve communities in 21 countries and operate more than 4,000 ambulances and patient transport vehicles. On top of our emergency and patient transport services, we are actively contributing to the development of pre-hospital services in collaboration with our partners.
Community Ambulance Partners, is right at the heart of providing the NHS with patient transportation services covering multiple NHS Trusts in the South of England, North of England and London. We are a prominent player in providing both emergency and non-emergency patient transportation services nationwide.
AMBULANCE CARE ASSISTANTS
Our organisation is expanding and we have a growing demand for non-emergency Ambulance Care Assistants. Providing first class care to patients is our priority, and you’ll be responsible for more than just getting patients to and from their hospital appointments, as we are committed to the people 1stapproach of providing excellent care, with compassion and great communication.
Ambulance Care Assistants transport disabled, elderly, sick or vulnerable people to and from outpatient clinics, day care centres and routine hospital admissions. You'll be responsible for looking after your passengers and, because many of them will be in poor health, you will also need life-saving skills in case there is a medical emergency (Full training will be given). As well as driving, you'll lift and help patients in and out of the vehicle. You'll make sure they're safe and comfortable during the journey and arrive on time for their appointment.
Some of your patients will be anxious about their hospital visit and others will lead isolated lives so will value your reassuring manner and the chance to chat. You'll often see the same people on a regular basis and get to know them.
You'll be based at one of our ambulance stations and cover a local area. You may have to work shifts. You might be part of a two-person team using a specially-designed ambulance with a tail-lift for wheelchairs, carrying several people on each journey. Alternatively, you might work on your own.
It’s essential for you to make our patients feel comfortable and cared for. This also means making sure your Ambulance and the equipment it carries is safe and sound – for you and them, every day.
You’ll be helping to transport our patients in non-emergency situations. Some of our patients visit hospital on a regular basis for the care they need. Therefore, you will be one of the friendly faces they see more often than anybody else. This is where your caring, compassionate empathetic and reassuring manner will make all the difference.
You don’t need previous qualifications – we’ll fully train you, to help patients from the West London community.
