Recruitment Index are currently looking for a Product Development Manager to join a growing E-Commerce business based in High Barnet. This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced Product Manager who’s ready to take their career to the next level.
Our Client, Empire Trading and Commerce has been trading for 3 years and have a team of 15 employers both inside and outside the UK. They have successfully launched over 80 Amazon products across 5 Countries and have worked hard to optimise their operations. We are now looking for someone to lead the expansion of the product portfolio with a particular focus in Homeware, Kitchen and Office supplies.
Key details:
· Hours: 6:00 – 14:00 (Monday -Friday) Part time option
· Location EN5 5SU & Hybrid working
· Salary: Up to £20,000 - £45,000 p/a dependent on experience
Key Skills Required:
- A successful candidate will have a proven track record within E-Commerce and New Product Development - A candidate with a proven track record in Amazon FBA.
- You will be innovative, and commercially aware. You will possess the in-depth knowledge of product research,development and launch. You will be well versed in the unique demands of the E-commerce landscape
- The successful candidate will have the ability to manage their own workload as well as the work of the support teams.
Roles and responsibilities:
The Product Development Manager will be responsible for bringing new products to market. They lead a team to ensure the products meet business goals and customer needs, conduct market research, and develop product specifications. As well as overseeing prototyping and testing, and managing the product launch.
Market Research and Analysis:
- Conducting thorough analysis of the Amazon marketplace to identify high-sales volume keywords and market gaps.
- Utilising advanced search tools for accurate market research whilst leveraging past experiences to bring fresh insight
Product Sourcing and Development:
- Developing innovative products that appeal to a mass market and that meet the prospect customers needs
- Work to a budget so that the product is cost effective and that company profits are maximised
- Devise and work on a strategic product roadmap and prioritise the initiatives and features based on customer problems, market demand, business strategy, vision, and goals.
- Translate customer needs into initiatives while aligning stakeholders internally to influence the business strategy.
- Pinpoint product niches and market gaps whilst employing product differentiation. strategies in order to surpass competition.
- Work with and manage the teams involved in execution, such as sourcing and design.
Product Assurance and Quality
- Conduct rigorous product testing to ensure superior quality and competitive advantages
- Initiate necessary discussions with suppliers and manufacturers to implement improvements.
Design and Visual Communication:
- Collaboration with designers to create compelling visuals that highlight product features and differentiators
- Coordinate photoshoots if necessary to ensure professional product imagery
Person Spec:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must. You will need to work alongside sourcers, designers, and operations team, perhaps on a daily basis.
- Time management and organisational skills will help manage many projects. From budgets and roadmaps to customer interactions, solid time-keeping and project management capability is essential.

Qualifications:
A degree, professional qualification or significant experience in one or more of the below:
- Product Design
- Business Marketing
- E-commerce
- Other related fields
