The Role:
M&G Alternatives manage c.£10bn across three main pillars: Diversifying Strategies, Private Equity and Real Assets. The Diversifying Strategies programme targets an absolute return and seeks to build an all-weather portfolio. The team are looking to invest with the best hedge fund talent globally and can invest across all strategies. Returns will be enhanced via accessing co-investments and opportunistically seeding new managers.
The Diversifying Strategies team are looking to hire a junior to mid-level investment analyst. The role will involve assisting to source new investment opportunities via meeting external managers and monitoring our existing investments. We are looking for a candidate that is comfortable assisting with a due diligence process, working towards Investment Committee approval and helping to execute the transactions. As the candidate gains more experience, the expectation would be that they would lead the process on new transactions and also lead on sub-strategy coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help to identify, evaluate and select new investment opportunities across both hedge funds and co-investments
- Complete Investment Committee reports and assist with the presentation
- Responsible for the ongoing monitoring of existing investments
- Support the quantitative analysis and data collection
- Contributing to ongoing research projects and thematic reviews
- Work with the sales and marketing team on materials
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Fund selection experience highly preferred
- Knowledge of hedge funds highly preferred
- Comfortable interacting with new people and building relationships
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking and highly numerate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both individually and as a team member
- Interest in Environmental, Social & Governance related aspects to investing
- Excel experience beneficial
- CFA, CFA ESG or similar qualification preferred
