About the job
We are looking to appoint an Allotment and Parks Booking Officer to join our Parks and Green Spaces Service. We are creating individual improvement plans for the allotment sites and the parks booking service, this role will lead on the implementation of these plans and will require working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the improvements are delivered successfully. You will be required to ensure that both services comply with all legislation and policies and industry published guidance.
This role will require working some weekends for allotment viewings and park events.
About you
We are looking for someone who has experience of working within a parks or green space setting. You will need to have knowledge of sustainability principles and practices in horticulture and understand the benefits of biodiversity within the allotment sites. You will need to be able to communicate and network effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
You will understand the value of green space in an urban environment and bring knowledge of climate change initiatives, wider sustainability and nature recovery.

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
