Job Purpose
At YMCA Northumberland, we provide a range of opportunities to help children and young people to belong, contribute and thrive. This role will deliver our weekly RAF Airplay Children and Young People’s Activity Programme.
The sessions are mainly accessed by young people aged 5-17 years, who are children of parents based at the RAF Boulmer Airbase. The programme offers young people a safe space to spend time with their peers, as well as access to a range of social activities and development opportunities
Working hours: 9 hours per week, Saturday day times with occasional weekdays
Rate of Pay: £11.06 per hour
Base of work: Longhoughton, Northumberland
Main Responsibilities
- Successfully planning and delivering a range of activity sessions in and around Longhoughton, working flexibly across the programme of delivery.
- Assisting in the creation of a safe and welcoming atmosphere where children and young people can thrive.
- Liaising participants, parents/carers to identify RAF young people to engage in the Airplay programme, and to help meet their needs and aspirations.
- Maintaining appropriate work records and detailed chronologies to the required service standards, observing data protection, privacy and confidentiality rules and procedures.
- Contributing towards the achievement of the organisation's objectives, targets and strategies for youth work delivery.
- Contributing to regular reports on progress against targets.
- Contributing towards promoting the work of YMCA Northumberland and encouraging children and young people to join.
- Ensuring that risk assessments are appropriate for the activities delivered, and are kept up to date.
- Assisting in ensuring the accessibility of all sessions and activities.
- Administer session fees from all participants.
- Ensuring that the appropriate equipment and resources are available for sessions, and are properly maintained.
- Participating in regular staff meetings on-site in Ashington, and to attend external meetings, training and events on behalf of the organisation, with prior agreement from your line manager.
- Occasionally working alternative hours/weekends to participate in training, fundraising events or residential trips involving young people.
- Maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Operating within the guidelines of YMCA Northumberland’s Staff Handbook.
- Acting as a key holder to the main activity site.
- Undertaking other appropriate duties as required from time to time by the Chief Executive.
