Job title: Air Traffic & Operation Officer
Location: Warton – On site with shift work pattern
Salary: £39,315+ dependent on skills & experience (11% on overtime shift & weekend allowance)
What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible to the Senior Air traffic Control Officer (SATCO) for the safe, efficient and effective provision of operational support to the Duty Tower Air Traffic Control Officer. This includes compiling half-hourly meteorological observations. The role provides a future opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) training dependent on passing the required aptitude tests. Therefore, this post would also suit someone with ambitions to become an ATCO.
- Responsible as the Military Operations Room Duty Officer to the Accountable Manager via the Aircraft Operations Manager for the safe and efficient functioning of the operations room as the communications, control and co-ordination centre for the daily test and production flying activities at Warton
- Responsible as the Duty Runway Controller to the Aerodrome Controller for monitoring, from the Runway Control vehicle (RCV), the aerodrome, runway, arriving and departing aircraft, and to give warning of any factor which may be deemed a threat to flight safety.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Civil Aviation Air Traffic Control Assistants qualification or Royal Air Force Operations Officer (FOM)
- Experience as a Tower assistant
- Experience of Fast Jet mission planning (AMPA or Sceptre)
- Competent and experience with MS Office
Desirable:
- Meteorological Observer’s Certificate
- Competent and experienced with milEAMS, & CADS
- Experience as a Runway Caravan Controller
- Qualified Private Pilot's License

The Military Flight Ops team:
The military operations team comprises five professionals specializing in military flight operations and air traffic control. The team is responsible for supporting the development and production testing of Typhoon aircraft by collaborating closely with test pilots, traffic controllers, and flight test engineers. In addition, they assist visiting pilots from the RAF and international clients.
