Due to the successful implementation of 70 new Vortex IoT Air Quality sensors in the Port Talbot area, as part of a Neath Port Talbot Council led Swansea Bay City Deal ‘Supporting Innovation and Low Carbon Growth’ Project, we have created a new Air Quality post to provide specialist technical advice and analyse/interpret the vast amount of data being generated at a local level.
Although the post is for a fixed term of 3 years, there may be an opportunity to extend the duration of the contract (subject to satisfactory performance and a positive project outcome/approval for a wider roll out of Air Quality sensors as part of Local Air Quality Monitoring).
The successful candidate will be required to provide a full range of Air Quality data analysis and interpretation, in addition to responding to specific requests from Members of the Public, Elected Members/Councillors and the Project Board. The day to day duties will include: gathering, analysing, maintaining and updating Air Quality data; producing technical data reports; calibration/checks of co-located reference Air Quality monitoring equipment to ensure data accuracy and determination of local pollution sources. .
The postholder will be required to work normal office hours, but there may be occasions where there is a need to work flexibly and work unsociable hours. The Authority is moving towards a Hybrid Working arrangement, and although an amount of data analysis can be undertaken from home, we will require the successful candidate to attend the office at The Quays, Baglan, Neath and undertake regular site visits in Neath Port Talbot for tasks relating to Air Quality monitoring, source apportionment and pollution identification.
