About the role
We are looking to appoint an Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer to undertake research activities in space engineering and technology at Space Park Leicester. Building upon our rich, 60+ year heritage of space-science excellence at the University of Leicester, Space Park is a collaborative community of industry, academics and students working together to drive growth in space and space-enabled sectors, undertaking world-leading research with access to state-of-the-art facilities.
The post holder will support research that is interdisciplinary in nature and encompass experimental activities that make use of research equipment held across different schools within the University. You will be expected to work at the interface between academia, industry and space agencies or funding bodies. Research will focus on areas that will have an impact beyond academia.
Research will be undertaken in collaboration with the Institute for Space. You will be expected to contribute to the development of strategic space technologies, research capabilities, including working on ESA projects with industry partner(s).
About you
With a MEng, MSc or PhD in a relevant discipline, you should have demonstrable experience of space/aerospace/mechanical engineering, particularly relating to research, programmes or industry. Experience of thermal and mechnical engineering applied in a space or aerospace discipline will also be essential. Specifically, you should be able to demonstrate sufficient experience in one or more of the following areas as building blocks for applied research programmes: Design and analysis using CAD/CAE software, novel manufacturing methods, theoretical calculations and modelling, or experimental validation.Additional information
