Aerospace Engineer
Job role: Join our dynamic aerospace team at B2Space in Newport and play a crucial role in supporting a wide range of air platform projects. As an Aerospace Engineer at B2Space, you will be a key member of our engineering team, responsible for designing, analysing, and testing aerospace components. You will collaborate with a diverse group of talented professionals, leveraging your expertise to contribute to the success of ambitious projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilise your versatility to engage in various aspects of high-altitude balloon projects, from subsystem design to testing and launch campaigns.
- Conduct advanced simulations and analyses of high-altitude balloon subsystems, including but not limited to pointing, recovery, and altitude control systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, risks, and tests, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Lead the design process for high altitude balloon subsystems, driving innovation and optimization to achieve exceptional performance and reliability.
- Participate in testing and launch campaigns, working hands-on to ensure the successful deployment and operation of high-altitude balloon systems.
- Contribute your expertise to the development of space mission phases, including requirements definition, system design, testing, and verification.
- Leverage your advanced proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and CAD design to develop robust and efficient solutions.
- Apply your intermediate knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to enhance the aerodynamic performance of high-altitude balloon systems.
- Utilise your understanding of Attitude Determination and Control Systems (AOCS) to enhance system stability, particularly as it pertains to space projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in high altitude balloon subsystem design, simulation, and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of space mission phases, from requirements to testing and verification.
- Advanced proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and/or Python for modeling and analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD design software for precise subsystem development.
- Intermediate proficiency in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for aerodynamic optimization.
- Knowledge of Attitude Determination and Control Systems (AOCS), especially in the context of space projects, is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with hardware development is an advantageous asset.
